This late-summer rooftop wedding took place at the iconic Bok Building in the heart of South Philadelphia. Bok is special not just because of its stunning views or fun school vibes, but all the love, stories, businesses and people that came together to make this wedding and the Bok building what it is! To those who don’t know about Bok, it is a former high-school that has been repurposed into workspaces for Philadelphia makers, businesses, nonprofits, and artists. There’s nothing more romantic than perfectly executing a wedding that is close to home, supports local businesses and artists, and most importantly, fosters love, connection, and a lifetime of memories. That’s just a small piece of what made Corrie and Cody’s day truly, unforgettable. *if you’re not crying yet, I hope you will be*
Thoughtful planning and coordination by the oh so lovely, Philly DIY Weddings made the day flow seamlessly from start to finish (which is impressive when there’s only one elevator and multiple floors involved!). Jackie and her team also handled the florals, hand-picked and curated with soft pinks, peaches, oranges, yellows and cream- YUM! The beautiful ceremony unfolded on the Rooftop, surrounded by the couple’s close friends and family, where the warm summer air and vibrant greenery framed a full 360-degree cityscape.
The bride wore a stunning gown designed by Aesling, purchased just steps away at Kinfolk within Bok, and tailored to perfection by Prim and Perverse. Hair and makeup by Karlie Craskey kept everything polished yet natural, adding the finishing touches to Corrie’s bridal look. Custom wedding bands from Golden Nugget featured emerald green stones with gold banding, especially crafted for them.
We got to pretend be to in the high school play as we took family photos and some portraits in the dark Auditorium. During the cocktail on the rooftop, amongst many nostalgic stories being shared, we snuck in a few more photos and caught lots of guests mingling and enjoying the views. One of many chalkboard signs hand-crafted by Woodzi welcomed guests into the retired West Gym.
Tropical, abundant florals repurposed from the ceremony filled the gymnasium, featuring gorgeous plant rentals from Greenly Plant Co., whose studio is also located (you guessed it!) inside the Bok Building. Behind the couple’s table hung two custom tufted rugs they made together at Tuft The World– talk about a fun date night!!!
Once everyone was done eating, Domino Dancing (aka Wesley Bunch) kept the dance floor packed all night with all the different genres! Laughter echoed through the gym, drinks flowed freely, and the energy stayed high! The vibe felt like an adult-style prom, complete with twinkling overhead lights and a dance floor centered over the gym’s original logo.
